Trips: Montauk Gang

Here is a report directly from Sid Aslin on Montauk this past weekend.

Fishing report for Montauk for Saturday January 20, 2018. Tim Klotz, Jeff Layton and Sid Aslin fished the park and found that the water level is as low as we had been hearing! We started at the top of the park in the morning with high hopes, but when we met for lunch none of us had netted a fish. Sid Blamed it on Kenny for not coming with us to yell at us on what we were doing wrong! After finishing our subway sandwiches that we had bought right before we turned off highway 63 to head for the park that morning we decided we were not going to get skunked and headed back to the river! We all caught fish in the afternoon so we did not get skunked! Jeff caught the best fish of the day after he saw another person catching them one after the other and she told him red ass wet fly so he think tied one on and caught a nice 3 pound rainbow. Sid saw a park worker that he had never met before so he introduced himself to Todd the new hatchery employee who is an avid fly fisherman and recently retired from the highway department.
I think he will be a good addition to the park and I encourage other fatc members to meet him and welcome him to “Sid’s favorite fishing spot”!
