My Son-in-Law and I fished Taneycomo last Tuesday. Flow schedule said they would be runnung zero mw until 1pm and then start flowing 100 mw. We thought perfect, get a nice morning of fishing and get out before it gets real hot and flow becomes unwadable. Best laid plans! On the water at 7:30 am with min flow. Fish are rising n taking Cracklebacks n soft hackls. Caught several fish ( average stockers).
9 am horn sounds and flow begins to pick up. They dont say what they are scheduling so we are watching a couple of tree stumps close to shore to gauge water level and rate. Doesnt look too bad as water is not rising all that much. I figure I can get across to lookout island and start my trek. Half way across I realize this is a bad idea but have reached the point of no return. Went the rest of the way to the island and figured I would fish a bit n hitch a boat ride back across to shore. Caught several fish over the next hour off the trailing end of the island whenor along came Stan from Riverrun Outfitters in his driftboat. Nice fellow who ferried me across to shore. Told Stan I was a FATC member and thanked him for helping me out. He knew our organization.
Moral to the story, when the horn sounds, stay on the shore side as the Corps will change their release on a moments notice and no one knows just what that will be. I lucked out having Stan come by and help me out.

Happens to every guy sometimes this does! Always trust the Force, not the Corp. For all grasshoppers, danger lurks when sirens blow, careful one must be!!
