  I have to confess. I have never fished the Eleven Point river for trout. Talking to an individual the other day on the Current river I was told that the Eleven Point is an outstanding fishery for big trout. There are very few places to wade so you need to float it to get to the great spots. Has anyone ever floated and fished the Eleven Point? Where do you put in and take out?

  Floated the eleventh point about 40 years ago, never fished it. I do recall the river’s water had a turquoise color almost ocean color liked. Very scenic river. I would be very interested in going back for a fly fishing float trip.

  Maybe, this could be our first float for the FATC kayak team that has been discussed in the past?

  I floated the Eleven Point 20 years ago with some Boy Scouts on a 5-day, 50-mile trip. Saw trout below Greer Spring. Canoes can put in there. You should be an experienced canoeist, though, as below Greer Spring there is some white water where loggers a century ago rolled huge boulders into the river to collect logs for transport. It is a remote area, too, so plan on possibly camping overnight. I’d pack a pistol with me if I were going again. Also, be bear aware if cping.

  Two years ago I went down there by myself. I used Richard Canoe rental. Nice guy and decently priced for rentals. Take out is PigPen Hollow. If I could suggest some thing for anyone. Bring a 55 lb trolling motor if possible to save on your arms and back if you want revisit any buckets, or riffles. Have a map of the river or GPS with you. I didn’t see any signs down there for any access points. So what happen to me was I missed my pick up spot because I didn’t see any signs. To make matters worse I broke my rod and ran out of water too. I pulled off at the next access point left the canoe and started walking. Found a couple to drive me back to Richards canoe. The Greer Spring is up stream past the highways over pass. RECEPTION IS SPOTTY.

  When you float areas like the Eleven point you have to remember that you are in a wilderness area. I floated it when the Irish Wilderness was created. It borders the east side of the river. It is one of the prettiest rivers in Missouri. It is much as it was when White Europeans came to Missouri.
