FATC: Beginner’s Fly Tying Class

Our FATC beginner’s fly tying class was held Saturday, January 13th at Terry Seaton’s house.  Terry has led the beginner’s fly tying class since it was established. Now with so many new fly fishers joining the FATC, he has opened up the class to several times per year.  Terry takes only five fly tiers at a time and they must be “true” beginners, i.e. have never tied before.  Each “student” is instructed on the tools and materials used in fly tying.  Then they have the opportunity to tie two different flies under Terry’s watchful eye.  This class had four “students, Donny Loughridge, Ryan Roe, Dave Inman, and Chris Pham.  Each tied the wooly bugger fly and the Primrose and Pearl midge fly.  Look for more classes in the near future. They fill up fast so don’t hestitate.
